Mrs. Georgia Mae Barnes, was born on March 9, 1964 to the late George and Sula Mae Hines, in Jacksonville, Florida. She received her early education from the Duval County Public School system, and graduated from Sandalwood High School. One day in 1981, while working at the Jacksonville Convalescent Center, she met the love of her life Gene A. Barnes, Sr. On April 11, 1982, one year later they were married in Holy Matrimony, and began their lives together for the next 37 years, until she went home to be with the Lord on October 11,2019. In those years, she wore several hats, as she loved what she did and strived to put a smile on everyone’s face. Her biggest accomplishment was being employed as a Certified Nursing Assistant. She did this for many years, taking on many other roles in between until she was no longer able to do the work she so loved and enjoyed, after being diagnosed with Breast Cancer in 2014. During that time she continued to fight and continued to stay strong for the sake of her family and friends. She always wore a smile in spite of how she was feeling, and continued to put her faith in God and would always say “God has the last say” until the very end. She will truly be missed by her husband, children, grandchildren, siblings and their families. She was preceded in death by her Father, George William Hines, Sr., Mother, Sula Mae Hines, Brothers, George William Hines, Jr. and Richard Jones. She leaves to cherish in her loving memories, her Husband, Gene A. Barnes Sr., Daughters, Kenyetta B. Barnes, Regina R. McAlister (Eric), and Son, Gene A. Barnes (Allyce). Granddaughters, Kimora N. Barnes (Poohbear), and Eri’yana D. McAlister (Ladybug). Sisters, Patricia A. Cobb, Joyce V. Lawson, Minnie L. Hines, Annie R. Hines, and Brothers Bobby D. Jones, and Calvin J. Hines. She also leaves behind her close friend, Sara Glover, and as she would say her “Roll Dog” her niece Melisa Tanzymore, and close nephews Shawn and Chris Jones, as well as a host of loved nieces, nephews, cousins and other close relatives and friends.
