My Rosie:
My sister, my friend, and my confidant. As siblings born eighteen months apart, we were each others' playmates. We were so close that Mom would dress us up like twins until we were almost teens. We were always there for each other as children, and, as adults. We had so many fun times together. We laughed so hard that we cried and we cried so hard until we laughed. Your sense of humor and wit was second to none. Mom would say " I love to see you two together, you two just laugh and love on each all the time".

Every time you came home to Philly, people who we hadn't seen for a long, time, showed up to see you. Friends back home have vowed to honor your legacy by various acts of love such as planting a rose bush, flower, lighting a candle, among many other acts of remembrance, since they could attend the service in Jacksonville.

Your allegiance, and unconditional love to Fred, your children, grandchildren, family and friends will certainly be missed. I don't know life without you. This will be a difficult adjustment for me.

Finally, to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. I know that earth has lost a soul, but, heaven has gained an angel. I will cherish all of the great memories that I have of you.

I take personal comfort in knowing that you had a personal relationship with The Father. I LOVE YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART TO INFINITY AND BEYOND.

To the family of Rosetta Wadley Polk,
I would like to express my deepest sympathies for your loss. I did not personally know your love one, but my heart goes out to you in this time of grievance. I am one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, a local volunteer in your area. I am writing to share some good news. Death is not something we can ever get used to because it is not natural. It is almost always surrounded by pain and grief. I cannot imagine what your family must be experiencing at this moment, but I did want to share the Bible's comforting message with you.
At John 5:28, 29 it speaks of a resurrection or a bringing back to life of our dead love ones. Notice what it says: "Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out, those who did good things to a resurrection of life, and those who practiced vile things to a resurrection of judgment.” Yes, the Bible holds out such comforting promise that we will see our love ones who have died again. At Psalms 37:29 it says: "The righteous will possess the Earth, and they will live forever on it.” Imagine that! You and I can enjoy the company of our love ones who have died right here on the earth, forever as God intended. His original purpose for humans as set out for the first couple in the beginning has not change.
Many people wonder about the state or condition of their dead love ones. Are they suffering? What are they doing? Notice what the Bible says at Ecclesiastes 9:5: "For the living know that they will die, but the dead know nothing at all, nor do they have any more reward, because all memory of them is forgotten." Did you notice the condition of the dead? It said that they know nothing at all. And it also says that all their memory is forgotten. So the Bible explains that the dead are in an unconscious state. In their unconscious state, they wouldn't feel anything or know anything. They are in a sleep like state, waiting to be awaken in the coming resurrection, as they are in God’s memory.
What sort of conditions will exist on the earth when we welcome back our love ones who have died? The Bible promises that we will live under perfect, paradisaiac conditions. Revelation 21:4 says: "And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.” We all look forward to the time when death is something of the past. I hope these scriptures have brought you a measure of comfort.
It has been a pleasure writing to you about this wonderful hope held in the Bible. For more information please visit jw.org.
