Samuel Johnson Obituary

Samuel Lee Johnson entered this life, with purpose on June 16, 1953 to the late Herman and Ollie Johnson in Jacksonville, Florida. Samuel from the beginning stood tall in stature and carried a gentle giant spirit that permeated the hearts of so many and will always be remembered. With a heart to match his spirit he was not a stranger to any that he met on his life’s journey, a journey that would inevitably take him all over the United States. During his teenage years he already knew he wanted to become a truck driver and that he did become after graduating from Jean Ribault High school (Jacksonville) in 1972. He loved everyone and was loved by all he encountered during his travels. He was baptized at an early age and attended Friendship Baptist Church. In his adulthood he joined Community Missionary Baptist Church under the Leadership of Pastor Cotton. Samuel was also an active member of the Group Riders Motorcycle Club for over 15 years.

Samuel worked as an employee with Coca Cola Bottling until he transitioned into becoming his own, independent truck owner and operator. For a total of 35 years not only was trucking his career it was his life’s passion. Samuel L. Trucking was birthed originally as a heartfelt endeavor by Samuel to establish himself an independent in the trucking business, a small business effort proved to be a blessing to his family, friends, and all that were humbled to encounter it.  Samuel retired doing what he loved a few years ago, but trucking was always a part of him. He would light up as he talked so humbly about “Life on the Road”. The many places and experiences he talked about with a huge smile were indeed a part of him and he was a blessing to them for precious years.

Samuel met and fell in love with his beautiful, devoted wife Sheila Miranda Johnson. They married in 2003 and were blessed to celebrate almost 16 years of a beautiful union until his departure from this life. He leaves her to cherish his memories, along with a very loving and supportive family,  Daughters: Samantha Johnson, Trina Bracelet, Sheena Key, Sons: Roderick Richardson (Tamoka), Michael , and Larry Key, Brothers: Jimmy Johnson( Elisha), Johnny Johnson(Sharon), Ricky Johnson(Joanna), and  Herbert Johnson, Sisters: Rose Bethea, Gloria Waters, and Cheryl Johnson, Sister-In Laws: Angelique Mouton(Chris) and Sandra Mayweather, Brother -in-law: Chyon Richardson, Aunts: Geraldine Price, Mary Delesley, Ida Patterson, and Ceola Jones(Robert), and one Uncle L. “Spooky” Jacobs,  Devoted cousins: Annie Newton, Edwin Stephens, granddaughter: Aiyana Forrest, and a host of loving grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.
