A talented intellect bearing a one-of-a-kind personality, Leonard Leroy Swain entered the world on May 22, 1948. One of eighteen children, Leonard was born to proud parents, Deacon Andrew Allen Swain, and Christine Grice Hughes Swain. On Tuesday, April 26, 2022, Leonard traded the cares of this world for brighter days.
After matriculating through the public schools of Duval County, Leonard graduated from William Marion Raines Senior High School, where he was a member of the track team, in 1966—the school’s inaugural senior class.
A skilled craftsman with the ability to build almost anything, Leonard was employed by the Duval County School Board as a master carpenter. His love for creating was evident in his work as he could often be heard singing and humming while on the job.

Cherishing his memories are family members: son, Leonard Frank Swain; daughter, Melanie Swain Jackson; seven grandchildren: Frank, DeAndre, DreShawn, Andre, Journey, Sage, and Imani; one great grandson, DeAndre; brothers: Eddie Swain, Charlie Swain, and Alphonso Swain; sisters: Pearl (Eugene) Cole and Clara Watson; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
