John Walker Obituary

On October 2, 2020, Mr. John T. (Bubba) Walker peacefully passed on to Glory while in St. Vincent Hospital.  John T. was born to the late Mrs. Elsie Grace Thomas and the late John Thomas, Sr. in Jacksonville, Florida on January 3, 1943.  Later, after his mother’s marriage to her second husband, the late Mr. Alfredo G. Walker, John legally changed his name to John T. (Thomas) Walker.  In 1969 Carolyn Slaughter and John T. Walker were joined in holy matrimony in the Bronx, New York, after which John T. joined and served in the United States Army.  On March 28, 2009, John T. Walker and Ella Mae Criswell were joined in holy matrimony, they resided in Jacksonville, FL.

John T. was known for his joyful and helpful nature.  He was always willing to help whether it was assisting seniors to get from one place to another or making certain that school children were safe getting to their school buses or to school.  Every morning and evening he could be seen standing in front on his house, waving to everyone that passed by wishing them a good morning or evening.  It did not matter if he knew them or not, all they had to do was pass by him.

John T. was preceded in death by his grandparents: Mr. and Mrs. Archie Lewis; parents: Mr. and Mrs. John Thomas; loving stepfather: Alfredo G.. Walker, Sr.; brother: Alfredo G. Walker, Jr,; sister: Donna L. Walker Tinnin.

John T. leaves to cherish his memory his two children: Christel D. Walker and Jonathan D. Walker (Samantha) both of New York; four grandchildren: Atiya N., Anisah N., Aliyah N. Mahmoud and Jared D. Walker of New York; sister: Veronica E. Thomas of Ocoee; brother: John Thomas of Virgina; four stepsons: Gary (Kheela), Moses, David P. and Anthony T.; three nieces: Shelia B. Grier, Lisa N. Phauls and Brianna Tinnin; two nephews: Fredrick Tinnin and Taurean Tinnin; special cousin: Roxann D. Hilbert and a host of great nieces, great nephews, cousins, family and friends.
