Ms. Hassie Huggins was born on July 22, 1938 in Sasser,
Georgia to James and Sarah Spicer. Born into a large family, she
had 9 siblings.
A cook by occupation, she was well known for using her talents as
an expression of love for those around her. Hassie was kind,
generous, and found space in her heart and home to care for
everyone. She enjoyed cooking, reading, and watching movies,
yet her favorite pastime was lavishing her love upon her family.
Despite her large family, Hassie always made time for everyone.
She always provided support and love for her family. She was
blessed with the unique ability to make each of her grandchildren
feel like they were the light of her life. Just one conversation with
her and she would tell you stories about how proud she was of
each of them.
Though Hassie's health was failing for years, few people knew the
extent to which she struggled. Her joy for life and
courageous spirit kept her pushing through the pain. It is that
same spirit of joy and perseverance that she has imparted into
each of us.
Hassie was preceded in death by mother and father Sarah
and James Spicer, daughter Sheila Cash and grandsons Larry
and Bernard. She is survived by her remaining children: Theresa
(Wade), Sarah (Michael), Kathy (Gerald), Alonzo and Conchita,
her 11 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and 1 great, great
grandchild and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
