It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gary G. Thompson, who departed this world on 11/04/2023 at the age of 75. He was born on 07/15/1948 in Akron, Ohio to William and Emma Thompson. He passed away surrounded by his loved ones.
Gary was known for his love of the Lord and never missed an opportunity to share the message of God’s love. He lived a life with a servant’s heart and was very active over the years in multiple church ministries. Gary was always lending a hand whenever needed and was the original Jack of all trades. He was a patriot who served his country and enjoyed traveling with his wife, visiting his family, and doing anything that involved his grandsons. Gary loved his family fiercely and never met a stranger. All who knew him loved him. He was a beloved and devoted husband to Diane, a loving father to Michelle & Dennis, Angela & Nick, and a loving Poppa to Nicholas, Michael, and Cole.
Gary is survived by his loving wife, Diane; his daughters, Michelle (Dennis) Bartilucci and Angela (Nick) Giroski; his grandsons, Nicholas Bartilucci, Michael Bartilucci, and Cole Giroski; his siblings, Bill (Gay) Thompson, Diane (Don) Zinn, and Randy (Debi) Thompson; his sisters in-law, Mada Dunning, Myra (Lynn) Dilda, and Anita (Don) Finch; and countless nieces and nephews.
A memorial service to celebrate the life of Gary Thompson will be held on 11/08/2023 at Destination Church at 88 Arlington Road, Jacksonville, FL 32211. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects. Viewing is at 10 am and services begin at 11 am.
