Deborah Kay Flagg of Jacksonville, FL peacefully transitioned on Dec. 26, 2020, at age 70, leaving behind a family who loved her dearly.
Deborah was born on June 5, 1950, to Helen Arline Perry and Hazel Mack in Larned, KS. She grew up as the oldest of four, watching country westerns on television with her family and continued to enjoy them throughout the years. Most days you could find Deborah’s television on the Game Show Network, as she answered questions or watching Gun Smoke being one of her favorite westerns.
Deborah had many passions, talents and hobbies. She enjoyed being crafty to include sewing clothes, quilting for her grandbabies, cross stitching and fixing things around the house. Deborah was passionately referred to as the Martha Stewart of her family while she inspired her daughter Sarmita to cook with love; blessed her sons’ Fred and Timothy with her green thumb and ability to rejuvenate dead plants; and gifted her daughter Kyronda with her independent and nurturing spirit.
She had a rewarding career in administration and customer service with Independent Life Insurance and various other organizations. While employed as secretary to the Vice President of Independent Life, Deborah married her beloved husband of 25 years, Charles Everett Flagg. Deborah retired from the workforce and was looking forward to spending her golden years enjoying her family.
Deborah loved GOD and her family. Her dedication to God was emphasized by establishing a strong foundational relationship with her children beginning with family bible study and spending several nights a week at church. She was a life-long member of Emmanuel Missionary Baptist Church but attended Greater Macedonia for a short time.
Deborah is preceded in death by her late husband Charles, as God called him home March 31, 2015, her parents, brother, Mike and others. She leaves behind her children Kyronda Thomas (David), Freddie Bratchett II, Sarmita Durham (Ivory), Timothy Flagg (Cindy); additional children through marriage Charles Jr., Meah, Anthony Flagg and Tiwana Flagg-Martin (deceased); siblings Beverly Crawford, David Gregory (niece Danielle) and Frankie Cannon (Nick); grandchildren Bradley Parks (Nicciana), Jade’ Jenkins, Destiny Thomas, Jordan Martin-Durham, Timothy Flagg II, Micah Flagg, Ashanti Kirkland, Shayla Martin and Jada Martin; great grandchildren Mariah Jenkins, Tih’Yheir Hinson, Ah’Breh McCoy and Ciana Parks (unborn); life-long friend Linda Stovall and a host of family and friends.
She will forever be remembered for her compassion, will, determination, spirited conversations, but most importantly for her love and dedication to her family.
