Alfred Bernard Herring, Sr., 57, passed away on Saturday, May 02, 2020 at Miller County Nursing Home. He was the husband of Karen Price-Herring.
Born in Valdosta, GA, he was the son of Betty Jean Donaldson-Herring and John Wesley Herring, Sr. He attended the school district within Jacksonville, FL. His work was general labor with the longest position being Florida Wilbert Vault Company. He worked until he became ill with Renal Kidney Failure.
He grew up attending church at Royal Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church. He enjoyed sports, primarily football. His favorite team was the Dallas Cowboys. He played softball for the church and even coached others that did not know how to play. He will be remembered for his loud voice and big smile. He was sure to bring a smile to any face. He was always a familiar face to those walking or driving down the street. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his parents: Betty Jean Donaldson-Herring and John Wesley Herring, Sr. (Rita Herring); siblings: John Wesley Herring, Jr. (Yvonne), Varena Daniel, Girlene Herring, Deanna Breaux (Quinn) and Maria Gibson (Antonio); children: Tessa Handy (Johnny: 5 children), Takechia Herring (2 children), Maria Herring (4 children), Alfred Herring, Jr. (3 children), Anthony Herring (Keyshawnda- 3 children), Antwian Herring (Brittany- 3 children), Antonio Herring (3 children); 23 grandchildren; great grandchild: Aaron Ervin, Jr. (AJ); and a host of nieces, nephews, aunties, uncles and cousins.
