William Weston Jr.

William Richardson Weston Jr., born March 12, 1957 in Harlem, New York, passed on to the afterlife April 14, 2017 after an extended illness. Billy, as he was also known, was an Electronics Engineering Technology major at Savannah State University class of 1979. After graduation, Billy took a job in Idaho Falls, Idaho at a nuclear facility where he met his lovely wife, Mary Lewis Weston. Billy was later employed by Dow Chemical in Midland, Michigan as a process manager and then a government research facility in Knoxville, Tennessee. He also spent time as an engineer for Saudi Aramco in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. Most recently, he lived in and Jacksonville, Florida. His passions included cooking, gardening, fishing, golfing, boating, community service, and creative expressions. While at Savannah State, Billy pledged the Alpha Gamma chapter of Omega Psi Phi in the fall of 1976 and delivered an animated role at the step show that earned him the nickname STARCHILD. He was Black Enterprise Magazines most eligible bachelor of 1979. While attending Savannah State College, Billy was featured in the filming of the original Roots mini-series. Preceding in death was his mother, Gwendolyn Jones Weston and Father, William Richardson Weston, Sr. He is survived by his wife, Mary Lewis Weston; his three beloved children, Tyrone Weston (Knoxville, Tennessee), Walter R. Weston (Knoxville, Tennessee) and Shantell Alesia Weston (Las Vegas, Nevada); his two dear gandchildren, Tyra Pesterfield and Jeremiah Weston; his siblings, Vincent Odell Weston (Atlanta, Georgia) and Hariette Montesia Farmer (Tampa, Florida) and a host of nieces, nephews, uncles, cousins, Savannah State University family and dear friends.
