Ulysses Mitchell

Deacon Ulysses Mitchell It can be said of him, he was a man that could have been, and should have beenon center stage. But he was the center of our lives. He enjoyed life, loved people, and had a gift for entertainment comedy making people laugh. Deacon Mitchell was born June 27, 1933 in Jacksonville, Florida to the late Willeen Riggins Mitchell, and James Lee Mitchell. His parents saw a sense of leadership and maturity in him at an early age. The second eldest of eight children, he grew up in Jacksonville, and attended the local schools. However, he spent most of his adult life in Chicago, Illinois where he worked and retired from General Motors. He accepted the Lord under the ministry of his niece and her husband, Pastors Bobby and Darlene Law. However, because their ministry was in Alabama he joined the West Jacksonville Church of God in Christ, Pastor Gary Hall he remained there for four years. In 2000 his sister returned home and started a ministry he was impressed of God to connect and assist her in ministry so he informed his pastor and was released in good standing. He served Mt. Sinai Missionary Holiness Church in whatever capacity he was asked. He was later installed as the first deacon of the church and remained until death. On March 26, 2016 he heard the voice of God say "its time." One of the songs he enjoyed singing with the church group was: "WHAT DO YOU WANT THE LORD TO SAYWELL DONE THOU GOOD AND FAITHFUL SERVANT" He leaves to carry on his two sons Ulysses (Carol) Ernest (Felicia) a daughter Arlene, and his many adorable grand-children, one brother, Bernard (Emma) two sisters Juanita, Rhonda (Emmanuel), one aunt Christine Kelley, a host of special cousins, and a number of precious nieces and nephews. All hoping to be re-united in Gods heavenly Kingdom which will have no end! Hallelujah!
