In Loving Memory of Terry James Sumlar
February 21, 1965 – July 26, 2025
A celebration of life honoring Terry James Sumlar—beloved son, brother, father, grandfather, uncle, cousin, and devoted friend—will be held on Thursday, July 31, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of C.L. Page Mortuary, located at 3031 Moncrief Road, Jacksonville, Florida 32208.
Born on February 21, 1965, in Jacksonville, Florida, Terry was raised and educated in the Duval County Public School system. A man of strength and quiet dedication, he found his passion as a professional truck driver, spending many years behind the wheel doing what he loved—traveling the open roads.
On Saturday, July 26, 2025, at 2:28 p.m., God called Terry home, wrapping him in peace and eternal rest.
Terry leaves behind a lifetime of cherished memories with his devoted mother, Loretta Sumlar; loving children, Courtney Shatara Sumlar and Terry James Sumlar, Jr. (Prisanna); and his three grandchildren, whom he adored.
He is also survived by aunts and uncles: Mr. Arthur Sumlar (Verna) of Jacksonville, FL; Mrs. Joanne Parker of Philadelphia, PA; and Ms. Earldine Sumlar of Jacksonville, FL. A host of cousins remain to celebrate his memory, including his caring cousins Sharon Sumlar Johnson and Terri White.
Terry's memory will also live on in the hearts of his lifelong friends, including Horace “Junior” Edwards (Angela), Ronnie "Punkin" Sapp, and Michael Williams.
Public viewing will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. until the hour of service on Thursday, July 31, 2025, at C.L. Page. Please note that there will be no viewing during the service.
