Shirl Ann Weaver Ennis, who departed this life on September 24, 2025. leaving behind a legacy of kindness, curiosity, and quiet strength.
Born on October 7, 1946, to Lonnie Weaver Sr. and Eliza Weaver, in Columbus, Georgia. Shirl Ann Weaver Ennis attended local public schools of Muscogee County, Georgia. She graduated from Carver High School and went on to be an Operation Room Technician. She also worked for the Jacksonville Sherriff's Office as crossing guard for over 20 years. Shirl lived a life marked by compassion, creativity, and a deep appreciation for the beauty in everyday moments. Whether through words, deeds, or simple presence, she touched the lives of many—offering comfort, laughter, and wisdom when it was needed most.
A lover of family. Shirl believed in the power of connection and the importance of living authentically. Her journey was not defined by accolades, but by the way she made others feel seen, heard, and valued.
She was predeceased by her father: Lonnie Weaver; husband: Charles Ennis Jr.; brothers: Clinton Weaver and Ronald Weaver; and sister: Martha Kate Weaver.
She is survived by her mother: Eliza Weaver; sons: Andre Ennis Sr., Cosmos Ennis Sr. (Annek) and Clavon Ennis; stepdaughter: Chantay Boykin of New York, New York; she had eighteen grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; sister: Annie Gaines (George - deceased); and brother: Lonnie Weaver Jr. (Pong); nephews: Norman Weaver, Armell Gaines and Chris Walton: nieces: Vernetta Gaines, Bernetta Drumgould, Yolanda Askew, Sandra Buckner and Josetta Walton; longtime friends: Lashan Taylor, William and Wilma Ringwood ; neighbor: Wilbert Mason; special friend: Lorraine; along with host of other relatives and friends who will carry forward the lessons and love that she so generously gave.
