Rosa Handy Obituary Rosa Mae Handy, was born January 31, 1938 in Augusta, Georgia to Jules Morgan and Louise (Conley) Morgan. She met and married John P. Leathers and to this union were three children. Later in her life she married Ellis B. Handy and to this union were two children. She was educated at Ursula Collins Public Schools. She was employed as a Nursing Aide until she resigned, to become a full-time homemaker. Rosa loves homemade cooking, baking and feeding family and friends, especially Sunday Dinners. At an early age she joined The Fellowship Baptist Church, Augusta, Georgia, where she was a member of the Choir, serving many years as a Deaconess, and the last 'Mother of the Church'. She loved working for and praising God. In Fellowship she was a true soldier of God, and never was afraid to show her love for Him. She moved to Florida where she continued to be a phenomenal woman of God. Her motto was, 'Put God first in everything you do.' She joined The Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, where she continued to serve God and His people until He called her home from labor to reward. A loving, praying, trustworthy, caring, God fearing, women who loved her children, family and all of God's people unconditionally. Rosa leaves to cherish in her memories Children: Joseph Morgan Leathers, of Newark, N.J.,Nona Marlene Leathers, Brenda Fay Leathers-Harris, Mary Louise (James) Peterson, all of Jacksonville, FL and Jeremiah Ramone Handy, of Douglasville, GA. Four step-children: Freddie Handy, Sr., Debra Davis, John Ruffin and Cal Ruffin. One brother-in-law: Arthur Bentley, Jr,. Three sisters in Christ Mrs. Mary Gates, Ms. Barbara Burgess and Mrs. Versa Sales, and Two daughters in Christ Hattie Higgins and Everline White; One son in Christ son in Christ Anthony Dudley;14 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and a host of cousins, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.
