Ricky Straughter Obituary Mr. Ricky M. Straughter, also well known by his nickname Tag, was born on February 9, 1955, in Jacksonville Florida to Johnny and Elizabeth Walker. He received his formal education at Andrew Jackson High School. He was a well-known truck driver for Virginia Paper and Zellerbach serving 40 years. After retiring from the trucking industry, he then spent majority of his free time working on cars, fishing, and dedicating his time to family and friends. Ricky gave his life to Christ at an early age and became a member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church. He was well known in his community for always lending a helping hand whenever he was called upon or needed. He was loved by so many. He spent 18 loving years with his wife Lolita Straughter and will forever be a comforting present in her heart. On Monday October 21, 2024, Ricky Straughter transitioned from this earthly life till eternal rest at St. Vincent Medical Center. He was proceeded in death by his parents: Johnny and Elizabeth Walker; brothers: Kenneth and Tyrone Walker; maternal grandmother: Essie Mae Straughter; aunts: Elzaide Fleming and Laverne Gilmore. He leaves to cherish his memories his wife: Lolita Straughter; daughters: Deborah Straughter (Rosalind Noah), Cassandra Brooks (Devonte), Tabitha Straughter and Shantell Nettles; sons: Kalvin Whitley (Megiue), Jeffery Nettles (Veola), Jaycee Nettles (Dominique), and Christopher Nettles (Bobbi); uncle: Steve Straughter; sisters: Mercita Cooper (Anthony), Maxcine Walker and Francine Williams; brothers: Willie Walker (Jackie) and Tony Walker (Gwen); 25 grandchildren, 7 great grands, and a host of nieces and nephews. Ricky also leaves behind two life long friends: Albert Washington and James Cromartie.
