Rachel (Respess) Paige was born to the late Hugh Miller Respess and Claudia Mae Mathis on May 12, 1936 in Macon, Georgia. Rachel Paige crossed into eternal rest on October 28, 2013. She was wed in holy matrimony to Mr. Johnnie Mack Paige. This union produced two daughters and four sons: Michelle (David) Grimes, Sharon (Lonnie) Isaac; Douglas Rice, Raymond (Kimberly) Rice, Willie (Christina) Griffin and Johnnie Paige Jr. She was proceeded in death by six children: Sharon Rice, Harold Rice, Claudette Rice, Patricia Rice, DeNash Rice, and Richard Rice; three sisters: Nellie Mae Kirksey, Annie Bell Tunstall, Annie Lou Miller; two brothers: Hugh Miller and Felton Respess. She leaves behind two sisters: Adel Holsten and Evelyn Woodard; one brother George Respess; a host of loving grandchildren: LaQuanda Thomas, LaKeesha Thomas, Shawndrea (Climmie) Gibson,Lily (Trone) Ellis, Keierra Isaac, Marquis Isaac, Octavia Rice, De'angelo Rice, Raymond Rice Jr., Tanisha Bates, Rayneshia, William Griffin, Christopher Griffin, Tavian Griffin, Tyrese Griffin, Johnnie Paige Jr., Jamal Paige; and a host of great-grand and great-great grand children, cousins, and friends. Elder Rachel Paige was a long time member of Springfield Christian Church Disciples of Christ under the leadership of Reverend Coley Williams Sr. Elder Paige is the current Mother of the Springfield Christian Church, for years she served as a Deacon and Superintendent of the Sunday school. She was also a prominent member of the Christian Women's Ministry of the Disciples of Christ North District.
