Pharris Lee Jones Senior was born February 6th, 1935 in Headland, Alabama, to the late Perry Lee Jones & Johnnie Bell Williams-Jones. He was the first born of two siblings from this union one sibling Johnnie Barry Jones preceded him in death at the age of two. He grew up to be the only child and was adored by his loving mother. He graduated from Roosevelt High School in Lake Wales, Florida. He was an accomplished student/athlete who received a football scholarship from Florida A&M. January 14, 1959 he joined in matrimony to Evelyn Ferrell. They resided in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and attended Mount Calvary Baptist Church where he served as Deacon. Pharris moved to Dothan, Alabama 2004 - 2009, and just recently relocated with his youngest daughter Shanel Minus in Jacksonville, Florida, who has been attending to his care until God called him home, December 3, 2011. He leaves to cherish his memory his seven children; Pharris Jones Junior, of Hallandale, Florida, Purnell Jones of Miramar, Florida, Phillip Jones of Lake Wales, Florida, Perrone Jones of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Sheliah Washington of Fort Lauderdale, Florida Sharon Hankerson (deceased) and Shanel Minus of Jacksonville, Florida. Sisters -in-law, Vivian Lenear and Renna Ferrell, Brother -in-Law, Rufus Ferrell Junior, Daughter -in-Law, Bernita Jones, Son-in-Law, Roger Washington, 13 grandchildren, Toriano (deceased(), Greggory, Tametra, Christina, Latoya, Purnell Jr., Sharod, Sterling, Donavan, Khayla, Saidah, Faith, 7 A great-grandchildren, loving cousins Earline Gates of Chicago, Illinois, and Dr. Joanne Gray of New York City, and his Uncle John Luther Williams of Dothan, Alabama. Hosts of cousins, relatives and friends. Special friends Shirley Scott and Mary Denmark. I would like to extend a special recognition to Linda Williams who cared for Pharris while in Dothan, Alabama.
