Parnell Smith Obituary Minister Parnell E Smith Parnell E Smith was born on May 7, 1964, in Gary, Indiana to McKinley Smith, Jr. and Dorothy Riley Williams. He attended and graduated from Roseland Community High School. Parnell enlisted into the Army in May, 1986 where he served as a Veterinary Food Inspection Specialist. He enjoyed traveling all over the United States with Hawaii being his favorite. He was honorably discharged in July of 1993. Parnell enjoyed traveling and life itself. He was a quiet man who would give you the shirt off his back. His favorite pass time was doing the work of a servant. As Parnell was passing through Jacksonville, FL. (as he would tell people), God allowed his path to cross with Darlene L. Brown. As time went on, he realized that his future was with her and on March 13, 2010 they married. He became a member of The Covenant Cathedral in August of 2011 where he faithfully served as a Deacon, Minister and an Adjutant General until his death. On July 5, 2022, God called His faithful servant home. Parnell was preceded in death by his parents: McKinley Smith, Jr., Dorothy Riley Williams and Jerry Williams as well as his sister-in-love Arlene Brown. He leaves his precious memories to be cherished by his wife, Darlene Brown Smith, his children: Dorshonda Kato (Robert), Dorinda Wilson (Joseph), Damel Wilson, Sr. (Rena), Nigel Johnson, Kana Spigner (Tyrone), and Matthew Moore (Semaj). Eleven grandchildren: Kenneth III, Kaniya, Azir, Aziya, Zayla, Zion W., Damel Jr., Kaden, Zion P, Kitanna and Tyleia. His siblings: James Wilson (Semita), Jaetta Davis (James), Michael Vandenburg (Kim) and Tammy Kelly (Tim).
