Remembering Otheller (Sack) Turner
Mr. Otheller Turner was born on June 10, 1946, in Sale City, GA (Albany) to the proud and loving parents of Elmore and Lucy Wimes Turner. Later the family moved to Fernadina Beach, FL where he was raised. He was affectionately known to his family and friends as Sack. Mr. Turner received his primary education in the local public schools, attending and graduating from Peck High class of 1965. While in high school Sack was a star athlete on the football team.
Later in life he moved to Miami, FL where he met Samilla Fay Evans Turner. The couple married and moved to Chattanooga, TN to raise a family. He united with Westside Baptist Church where he served as an usher for many years. Later, he untied with St. James Missionary Baptist Church where he also served as an usher. During his time at St. James he was honored to be ordained as a Deacon. He began his working career at Mueller, Co. where he tenured 36 years as a steel worker. His coworkers affectionately coined him the nickname of “Trick.”
He quietly transitioned from this life to be with his Holy Father on Wednesday, April 2, 2025. Otheller was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Mrs. Grace Dinkins, Mr. Eddie L. Turner, Sr., and Mrs. Jessie Scott.
He leaves to celebrate his life his children: Tara T. Turner (Raleigh, NC), Otheller Demond Turner (LaSanda - Chattanooga, TN), Corey Williams (New Orleans, LA), granddaughter: Ryane S. Turner (Durham, NC), and great grandchildren: Levi Evan Turner and Jahleah Shaneece Turner; brother: Charlie Turner, Sr. (Ollie - Jacksonville, FL), sisters: Ms. Annie Delores Turner, Mrs. Rutha B. Jones (Fernandina Beach, FL), and Mrs. Janessa V. Grant (Leon - Yulee, FL) and many devoted nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Otheller’s memory will be cherished forever and his legacy of love, service, and dedication will live on in the hearts of all those who knew and loved him.
