June 24, 1937 — April 3, 2021

Obadiah Sias Obituary Obadiah Sias attended and graduated from Holsey-Cobb Institute one of the oldest black private schools in the South. Mr. Sias was affectionately called "Obie" by his loved ones and close friends. Obie participated in several sporting activities. He was the fastest runner on his track team and in the South. He was also the recipient of the top award in his cultural dance class. During his youth, Obie attended and worshipped at Macedonia Baptist Church and also 12th Street Church of God in Christ in Cordele, Georgia. As a teen, Obie had no interest in the daily labor-intensive regimen that came with working on a farm. Instead, he sought and held employment as a waiter at various cafes and restaurants. As a young man, Obie was determined to own a vehicle. He saved enough money to purchase his first automobile. He then traveled to the big city of Buffalo, New York in search of a better job. Sometime later, he took his mother to the Canadian border where she delightfully and firmly planted one foot on Canadian soil and the other on U.S. soil. As he further progressed in adulthood, Obie fulfilled his love of travel by becoming a professional long haul truck driver. His routes took him all over the country allowing him to experience various wonderful activities and countless beautiful sites. Obie is preceded in death by his parents, Clarence Sias, Sr. and Thelma Everett Sias, daughter, Mary Lois Faulkner (Kade, Fort Lauderdale, FL), sister, Mary Everett Sias Whitfield (Rev. Willie, Augusta, GA) and grandson Travis Sias. Obie leaves to cherish in his memory his wife Debora Sias; children, Patricia Fields, Jerome Sias, Wanda Sias and Tiffany Johnson (all from Jacksonville, FL; siblings, Clarence Sias, Jr. (Gloria, Miami, FL), Alex Sias, Sr. (Dora, Ridgeville, SC), Irene Sias Cantrell (L. C., Cordele, GA) and Commissioner Sammie Sias (Dyeann, Augusta, GA); and is survived by a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
