Mrs. Mary L. Slade peacefully transitioned from labor to reward on Thursday, December 27, 2012. We will miss her kind and quiet spirit, as we mourn her passing. Mrs. Slade was born on May 16, 1931 to Halley & Ida White (Deceased). She attended the public schools of Fairfield county. The young Ms. Mary White met and married the love of her life, Mr. Lucius Slade jr. September, 2012 marked sixty years of matrimonial bliss. This union produced 9 children, 17 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death: Two Children, Deborah Slade Pate and Ava Slade Gardner; Two grandchildren, LaQuita Pate James and Dexter T. Shanks (Teddy). Prior to moving to Jacksonville, Fl in 1971, Mrs. Slade was employed by General Electric Corporation. Her early Christian experience was through the Mt Aaratt Baptist Church of Bridgeport, Ct, where she served on the usher board. Upon relocation to Jacksonville, Mrs. Slade joined Greater Holy Temple COGIC under the pastorate of the late Bishop C.D.Kinsey. Later she moved membership to Truth for Living Ministries under the leadership of Archbishop Leonard and Bishop Carolyn Love. Mrs. Slade worked for Kmart stores, Inc. 1972-1997, retiring after 25 years of service. She leaves to cherish her loving memories her devoted and loving husband Lucius Slade Jr. Son Ricardo Slade (Dori) of Sacramento, CA. Daughters; Lauretta Webb Anglin, Lovie Slade, Theresa Ross (Michael), Karen Covington, Kim Slade, Alison Patterson. Grandchildren; LaTonya Hudson (Elijah), Mico Ancrum-Slade of Richmond VA, Jamian Butler, Donald Dixon (III), Avery Shanks, Temia Lofton (Cedrick), Cecily Pate, LaShae, Jimmesse, and Theresa Patterson, Milton Gardner Jr., Taurean and Aaron Ross, Lance and Luke Slade. Great Grand's; Stephen James, D'Jimon Arrington, Destiny, Ke'ara and Ava Shanks, Juanyae Pate, Tavon, Brianna, Breonna, and Alexander Smith, K'on Snead-Shanks, Azari Bland, DeMhir Jackson, E'Lysah and Elijah Hudson, Madyson Lofton. 1 Brother Willie C. White of New Haven, Ct. 1 Sister Ruth White of Danberry, Ct. In-Laws; Christine White of Bridgeport Ct., Lovie Johnson (J), Marvin Hearman (Cindy), Otis Cole.
