Mary Lois Smith Cole was a devoted wife and mother, one who always put the interest of her family first, who saw to it that her children were given the best she could provide, in loving care, spiritual nourishment and material comforts. The example she lived day by day will forever be a goal for her family to strive to reach. She was faithful to her church, always present at every service unless providentially hindered from being there and saw to it that the family attended with her. Mrs. Mary Lois Cole, 74, departed this life on Tuesday, August 20, 2013. Early in life, she became a believer, accepting Christ as her Lord and Savior. She was educated in the public schools of Duval County, graduating from New Stanton High School, class of 1957. Mrs. Cole was predeceased in death by her parents Mose and Mattie Mae Smith; brothers, Rev. Robert L. Smith, Moses Smith, Jr. and Willie Frank Smith and sisters, Rosena Smith, Martha Smith and Mattie Bossard. She leaves to cherish her memory a loving and devoted husband, Roseboro Cole; children, Kelvin (Lucille) Cole, Tonya (Darryl) Jordan and Claudette Ballard; loving sisters, Emma Brown, Bertha Benton; brother, Claude (Doretha) Smith; five grandchildren, Ronnie Johnson, Ryan Johnson, Ashley Ballard, Meagan Ballard and Darryl Jordan, Jr.; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and other relatives.
