Lona Jackson Obituary Lona Marie Decker Jackson 82 of Jacksonville FL, formally of Hamden, CT passed away peacefully December 1, 2020 at home surrounded by her family. Born November 1, 1938 to the late Lewis and Margaret Forbes, she attended James Hillhouse High School and Albertus Magnus College in New Haven CT. Lona then went on to work for SNET (Southern New England Tel) for over 30 years. Lona married George E Jackson in 1958 and from this union they raised three sons, George and Steven Jackson and Victor Forbes. Spending time with her family was one of Lonas treasures, dinners and gatherings with family meant a lot to her. She enjoyed traveling to places like the Caribbean and even had a chance to take a trip to Hawaii. Going to the casino was her "fun time", win or lose she enjoyed the adventure. Lona had a special place in her heart for animals. If a puppy had a cute face, she brought it home. If she found a stray cat, they came home also. No animal was ever hungry or homeless. While in Florida Lona joined Shiloh Metropolitan Baptist Church. While there she enjoyed being a member of several ministries. Lona did volunteer work at Shands Hospital in FL. Lona leaves to mourn her passing sons George (Carolyn), Jackson of CT Steven (Georgia) Jackson, of FL Victor (Tracey) Forbes of CT. Grandchildren Dramel (Chakemia) Jackson of AZ, Shar-Nay (Jammar) Miller of KS, Courtney Jackson of VA, Vanessa (Will) Bonner of FL and Vencella Richardson of GA. Twenty-one great grands and 8 great great-grands. Sisters Clarrisa Watson of NC and Marion Teague of CT, brothers, Robert Forbes of CT and Wesley Forbes of CA. Several nieces and nephews and many friends. Lona is predeceased by her parents, brothers, Victor, Lewis, Gordon Forbes and a sister Phyliss Morrison.
