Pastor Lizzie Kate Joyner was born on December 23, 1931 in Clyo Georgia to the late Deacon Jessie Sr. and Pearl Stokes. She received her education at Long Branch Elementary School and Matthew Gilbert High School. Lizzie married the late Deacon Henry King, in that union came two children, Henrietta King and Richard King. She Later Married Deacon Oscar Lee Joyner Sr., who preceded her in death. Out of that union came 4 sons and 1 daughter, Oscar Jr., Ronnie, Jeffery, Antonio and Rosalyn Cook. As a child she was a member of Morning Star Free Will Baptist Church, under the leadership of Rev. Williams, later she joined Queen Ester Baptist Church, under the leadership of Rev. Hoover. God then called her into the ministry. She became founder and pastor of Stand Up for Jesus House of Prayer. She always looked to God for her spiritual insight and wisdom, that she so graciously shared with others. After she became ill she gave up her church and became a member of Community Free Will Baptist Church under the leadership of Elder James Williams, and this is where she held membership until her death. She was known as a woman of integrity. Her love for the Lord was very transparent. She was a woman that feared God and always had a song in her heart and that song was "He was there" by Frank Williams. She loved the word of God and would always testify to 1 Corinthians 13, Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not love, have become nothing. When you told her you love her, she would say, I love you more! She was employed by the Duval County School Board and Royal Lining Services. Lizzie will be joining her husband of 60 years Deacon Oscar Lee Joyner, Sr. and her 5 sons Oscar, Jr., Ronnie, Jeffery, Antonio and Richard.
