Lester Mitchell was born June 25, 1952 in Jacksonville, FL to Lester Mitchell Sr. and Frances Gooden. He attended school in the Duval County School system. He later received his GED followed by an Associates Degree in Criminal Justice from Edward Waters College. He also had a love for cooking and earned his certification as a Chef. He was an active member of Mt. Lila Baptist Church for many years then later felt led to move his membership to New Good Shepherd Missionary Baptist Church. He was given the childhood nickname “Boy” by his older deceased sister, Gracie Mitchell because he was so rambunctious as a child and often taunted her to the point, she could not call him anything but Boy.
Lester is survived by his son: Michael Houston; daughter: Latisha Harrison(James Harrison Sr.); sister: Paulette Mitchell; grandchildren: Semaj Harrison, James Harrison Jr., Arthur Harrison and Endalyn Harrison; nieces: Pamela Hightower and Kimberly Carroll; nephew: Winfred Hightower Jr. (Alysia Hightower); great-nephews: Julian Paul, Jovan Hightower and Christopher Hightower; great-nieces: Desiree Hightower and Juanita Mendoza; longtime family friend: Linda English; and a host of other relatives and friends.
