Gloria Jean Jenkins

Gloria Jean Gowen Jenkins was the only daughter born to Richard A. Gowen, Sr. and Mazine Gowen on November 19, 1957 in Fernandina Beach, Florida. The youngest child and baby sister to five older brothers, Gloria Jean attended the public schools of Nassau County, graduating from Fernandina Beach Senior High School in the Class of 1975. She gave birth to her oldest child, Domonic Miquel Johnson on February 3, 1977, and spent his formative years surrounding him with love and family here in Fernandina Beach. She was united in holy matrimony to Charles Willie Jenkins in February 1978, and to this union their daughter Pennie Jenkins was born. Gloria and Charles made their living off of the shrimping industry, and would often follow the shrimp boats to their harvesting point between Florida and Texas. When her daughter Pennie joined the Army and was stationed in Denver Colorado, she went out for a visit and remained in Denver, Colorado from 2007 until her death. She was preceded in death by both parents, Richard A. Gowen, Sr. and Mazrine Gowen; three brothers, Richard A. Gowen, Jr., Calvin Gowen and Curtis Gowen; and her husband Charles W. Jenkins. She is survived by her loving children Domonic Miquel Johnson (LaShonda) and Pennie Jenkins, her brothers James L. Gowen, Sr. (Easter Mary) and Tommy Lee Gowen (Angelet), her sister-in-law Beverly Gowen (Curtis), her grandchildren, Jaheim L. Woodard, Jacobi Domonic Johnson, Kensli Anaya Johnson, and Holdyn G. Jenkins, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
