Gary Griffin Obituary On Thursday, February 4th, 2021, Mr. Gary Bernard Griffin, Sr. a devoted husband, loving father, dedicated friend and Pastor, departed this life for his heavenly home. Mr. Gary Bernard Griffin, Sr was born on October 4, 1952 in Jacksonville, Florida to Herman R. Griffin, Sr. and Irene Collins, both of whom preceded him in death. He was educated in the Duval County School System. Gary furthered his education by attending vocational school as well as college. He proudly served his country in the military. Gary was an inspiration to all who knew him as he did not let an injury that left him visually impaired stop him from a life of service. He devoted time to helping people with disabilities for many years. He was a kind and gentle person who enjoyed life. It was often said that he never met a stranger, as he was approachable to anyone and everyone. He liked nothing better than an interesting conversation with a 'new' friend. Gary was an avid bowler and a member of 2 Senior Bowling Leagues. He was also a person of great faith who loved God and had a passion for his people. Gary accepted the call to ministry and was the Pastor of The House of Worship Holiness Church. It was there that he met and married the love of his life, Evette Edwards. He leaves behind a loving wife, Evette Griffin(Gail). Children: Alicia S. Griffin, Gary B. Griffin Jr., Legretta Griffin, David Griffin(Erica), Tasha Griffin, Step-daughter Larasha Scates. His grandchildren: LaVander, Keri, Tamara , Tara, Gabrielle, Courtney, Levaughn(Ambrea), Aubriana-Tionne, Nyah,Kaylen, Kamron, Khloe,Tamaya, Jakob, and Aaron Jr. His great- grandchildren: Kemyra, Tyshawn, Thomas, Anaya, Ayden,Devereux, Dominic, Myra.
