Eugene Jefferson Obituary After a hard-fought and courageous battle, Eugene Jefferson transitioned to be with the Lord on November 6, 2024. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marion Sr. And Ruth Jefferson. Mr. And Mrs. Jefferson welcomed their 5th son, Eugene Jefferson on July 13, 1968, in Jacksonville, Florida. Eugene was educated locally in the public school system and graduated from Andrew Jackson High School, Class of 1987. He would go on to hold numerous jobs and was most recently employed by Grainger Industrial Supply Company as a forklift driver. Gene worked faithfully at Grainger for 17 years, gaining the nickname and often referring to others as "Jive Turkey". He was known for his fun-loving ways, constant trash-talking and yet seriousness about the Word of God. He left an undeniable impact amongst both past and present employees. Eugene gave his life to Jesus Christ at the age of 19. He would often share his salvation experience saying, he told God if you are real you will have to prove yourself to me. Shortly after he was told by a co-worker/preacher that God had shown him Genes name and face to pray for him. Gene would later discover that day he was driving around with missing lug nuts in his tire. Realizing that he could have easily lost the tire and possibly his life, Gene accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and never looked back. In 1992, shortly after getting married and looking to grow in faith and service, he and Vanessa joined First Timothy Baptist Church. After many years of serving Gene received and accepted the call to preach, he was ordained on August 20, 2006 as a Minister of the Gospel under the leadership and guidance of Pastor Frederick D. Newbill Sr. After 26 years of services, and Gods leading Gene and Vanessa would join Chets Creek Church North. It wouldnt take long before Gene would be known for his joyous spirit and love for teaching the Word of God. He could also be found on Sunday mornings welcoming members to service, high fiving the youth, while also having a joke or two for the adults.Having a genuine love for soul-winning, Gene never met a stranger and had a unique and non-threatening way of spreading the gospel. Even throughout his illness, his witness never stopped. He touched the lives of many staff and patients in hospitals and medical facilities in which spent time. His last 21months of life exemplified, Matthew 5:16 letting your light shine before men to the Glory of God. Rest well Man of God...you have finished your work. Minister Jefferson will be greatly missed. He leaves to cherish his memories of life, love and laughter to his devoted wife, Vanessa sharing 32 years of marriage.
