Mr. Ernest Franklin Sampson Jr. was born November 30, 1927 to Ernest Franklin Sampson Sr. and Mae Thelma White in Palatka, Florida. Ernest completed his education in Palatka, FL. He served in the military from 1946 - 1947. He worked for the New York Port Authority for 37 years. In 1988, he retired and relocated to Beech Island, SC where he drove Aiken County school buses for 6 years. In 1994, he relocated to Jacksonville, FL to enjoy retirement, family and his love of fishing. Ernest was a faithful and dedicated member of First New Zion Missionary Baptist Church for over 10 years. He served on the Deacon Board and in the Male Choir. Ernest was preceded in death by his mother, Thelma White; father, Ernest Sampson Sr.; sons, Eric Sampson, Lamar John Sampson, Derick Sampson, Sedric Sampson, and Lamar Sampson. Ernest leaves to forever cherish his memory, his devoted children, Ernest Sampson, Sr. (Fabien), Yvette Myers (Phillip), Valerie Tate (Joseph), Ferdinand Sampson, Jeffrey Sampson (Pollyann), Paula Sampson, Allyson Allen, and Shadra Sampson (Alvin); grandchildren: Ernest Jr., Tara, Kim, Eyisha, Horace Jr., Eric Michael, Ericka Eugena, Erica Yvette, Eric Lamar, Lateesha, Ariele, Samuel Jr., Darryl, Akilah, Jeffrey Jr., Jeremy, Summer, Errol and Jahsheen; a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and dear friends.
