Dorothy Barbara Way-Evans TILL WE MEET AGAIN Mrs. Dorothy "Barbara" Way-Evans was born to the late Julius Sr. & Hattie Way on August 14, 1937 in Jacksonville, Florida. She was a devoted and faithful member of St. Matthew Baptist Church for over 50 years. Barbara attended the local public schools graduating from The New Stanton Senior High School Class of 1955. While at Stanton she was elected "Miss Team Sweetheart". After graduating Stanton, Barbara furthered her education at Edward Waters College of Jacksonville, FL going on to complete her studies, certifications, boards, and licensure in the field of Cosmetology. In 1960 Barbara joined in a union of marriage to the late Samuel Lee Evans. Four sons were born to this 35 year union. During her professional career Barbara set sail to spread Beauty across our community. Many knew Barbara from her work at "Soul Scissors" that was located in the department store of May Cohens, Downtown Jacksonville (1970-1980s). Fearless in her pursuit and relentless in her resolve Barbara worked at a few other local beauty shops later to go back to school for her instructor certification. With a contagious smile, full of wisdom, knowledge, and character she left a multitude of others trained and equipped to continue her legacy through mentoring and instructorship at Beauty Care Academy. She later retired from the field of cosmetology only after obtaining her very own beauty parla (Barbaras Beauty Nook in the late 80s. Barbara was predeceased by her parents; Husband Samuel Lee Evans, Brothers: Alphonso Way Sr., Julius Way, Jr., and James Otis Way. Sisters: Doris Way and June Way Durham-Dowdell. She leaves to Cherish her memories Four Sons: Samuel Larry Evans, Bernard Duane Evans, Gregory Renard Evans (Rose), and Dallas Lamar Evans. Grandchildren: Nichelle Chanae Evans, Chasity Evans, Kelley LeeAnn Robinson (Willie), Amber Nicole Evans, and Dallas Lamar Evans II. Great Grandchildren: Elijah Nathaniel Evans, Isaiah Anthony Arinevaz, Anaiyah Danae Arinevaz, and Briyanah Lanae Arinevaz. Brother: Bobbie Ray Way, Sisters: Gloria Scruggs, and Emma Madison. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
