Cora Corker Obituary Cora Hall Corker was born May 4, 1934, to the late Arthur and Emma Hall in Dublin, GA. She received her education in the public schools of Dublin. Cora married the late Emory Corker and lived in Miami, Florida and Cleveland, Ohio before moving to Jacksonville. Cora gave her life to Christ at an early life and once she and Emory moved to Jacksonville, they joined the Greater Grant Memorial African Methodist Episcopal Church. Cora maintained her membership and was an active member until her health began to fail. At Greater Grant Cora served on Usher Board #2 and was a member of the Senior Adult Minister (SAM) and Ladies Church School Class under the leadership of Sis. Viviloria Frazier and the late Sis. Renae Armstrong. Cora was consecrated a Deaconess on December 11, 2021, by Bishop Frank Madison Reid III, Presiding Prelate of the 11th Episcopal District of the AME Church. In 2022, Coras health began to fail, and she was moved to Lakeside Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. On May 4, 2024, Cora celebrated her 90th birthday at a small gathering including her nephew and niece from Detroit, MI, William & Ruth Woods; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, John & Connie Corker; church members and friends, Alice Robinson West and Faye Diamond; and several Lakeside staff members. On the morning of June 14th under VITAS Healthcare in Lakeside, Cora left her earthly shell and entered eternal rest with her Heavenly Father. Cora was preceded in death by her parents, five sisters and, three brothers, several nieces and nephews, and other family members and friends. Cora leaves to cherish her loving memory her brother-in-law, John Corker (Connie), one niece, Emma L. Mosley of Detroit, several nephews including William "Gene" Woods (Ruth), Joe Mosley (Linda), Tyrone Mosley, Wayne Mosley (all from Detroit, MI), and Dennis Smith, Miami, FL; one godson, Carlton Haywood; goddaughter, Sharonda Demp; a host of great nieces, great nephews, cousins and many sorrowing friends including Alice RobinsonWest and Minnie Williams.
