Catherine Sykes Obituary A Virtuous Woman Catherine Sykes age 103 of Jacksonville, Florida entered eternal life on Friday, May 3, 2024. Catherine was the only child of Willie Williams and Elleanor Anderson. She attended local schools. She married Benager Sykes Sr. on May 20, 1941.She made a positive and unforgettable impact in all our lives, in one way or another. She was a praying Woman and always praying for her Family. Catherines favorite saying was "Jesus and Me". She was a former member of Mt Sinai Missionary Baptist Church and attended Unity Christian Church. Catherine Sykes was a self-taught pianist and organist. She played for: Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church, Greater Bethany Baptist Church, and Twin Springs Baptist Church. She also played for a Male Chorus in which she loved dearly. Catherine was a member of: Royal Grand Chapter OES, Heroine of Jericho, Ladies of Knight, Daughters of Spinx, and True Vine #181 OES Catherine was preceded in death by her husband: Benager Sykes Sr.; sons: Michael T. Sykes and Benager Sykes Jr.; and daughter: Annette V. Bacon. She leaves to cherish her precious memories, her daughters: Louise Jenkins and Sandra Sykes; caregiver/ granddaughter, whom she loved dearly: Terri Barrington (Tyrone), 25 grandchildren, 57 great grandchildren, 98 great-great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
