Carolyn Woods Obituary Carolyn Woods, the youngest of six siblings was born to Connie (Gay) Woods and Willie Woods, Jr. on March 5, 1973 in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. She was educated in the public schools of Broward County, attending Rock Island Elementary School; Everglade Middle School and Northeast high school, graduating in 1991. Carolyn matriculated to Georgia Perimeter University in Atlanta, Georgia, earning a A.S. degree in Psychology. Carolyn was one that loved to learn. She continued her studies at Clayton State University in Clayton, Georgia, earn B.S.in Education. Carolyn received her Masters Degree in Education from Ashford University. Carolyn taught school in Atlanta, Georgia, New York City and Jacksonville, Florida until her health began to fail. Carolyn grew up in a family that loved the Lord. She joined New Bethel Primitive Baptist Church of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida under the leadership of Elder L. V. Hobbs. Carolyn was baptized the second Sunday of June, 1980. She served in the Youth Ministry and sang in the "Heavenly Vision" Choir. Upon relocating to Jacksonville, Florida she joined Mt. Olive Primitive Baptist Church. Carolyn became a member of the Voices of Praise choir, where she enjoyed singing and being a part of the fellowship. at Mt. Olive she worked with the Youth Ministry and taught the High School Class in Sunday School. Carolyn was an inspiration to all that knew her, she was a sports fanatic she loved to watch all sporting events. She loved children, especially her nieces and nephews. Carolyn never claimed sickness as a disability, she believed that every day that God gave her was a blessing. We will miss her smile and her willingness to be a servant for the Lord. Carolyn was preceded in death by her father Willie Woods, Jr., one brother, Reginald Pinckney and two sisters, Marilyn Woods and Sharon Woods Williams. She leaves to cherish her memories a loving mother, Connie G. Woods, brother, Charles Woods both of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; and a sister, Iris L. Woods of Jacksonville, Florida. She considered her nieces and her nephews, all of her children. Nieces, Veneshia and Ashley Woods Nephews KhambreL Mathews, VanDareen Robinson of Jacksonville, FL and Shoddrick Woods of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Eight great nieces and nephews; DaJuan Thompson, Markell & Makayla Mathews, SaPhonte McMillian, Makhi Mathews, SaVarius McMillian, King Robinson, and Charles Mayes; an aunt Artis (Clarence) Carner and an Uncle Clarence (Queen) Gay. Three God- Children Terreance Jacsaint of Lake Worth Fl, Lemuel and Lauren Mayes of Atlanta, Ga; and a host of other sorrowing relatives and friends.
