In Loving Memory of Brenda Ann Miller Jordan
Brenda Ann Miller Jordan, a beacon of love and inspiration, was born on September 15, 1969, in Miami, Florida to her proud parents, Claudette and Sam Miller. The family soon relocated to Jacksonville, Florida, where Brenda flourished, attending Hogan Spring Glenn Elementary and Northwestern Middle School, ultimately graduating from William M. Raines High School.
Her journey of education continued at Edward Waters College (EWC), where Brenda earned a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration with a Minor in Education. Active in her community, she joined The Omega Essence, an auxiliary organization of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., showcasing her spirit of camaraderie. Brenda stayed connected to her roots through her dedication to the EWC Alumni Association of Jacksonville. She further pursued her passion for education by obtaining a Master's in Education from The University of Phoenix and worked diligently toward her Doctorate in Transformational Leadership with a Specialization in Education at Concordia University.
Brenda's passion for supporting children and uplifting her community was evident in her commitment as an educator. She devoted over 20 years to teaching special needs students with Duval County Public Schools, ending her career at the Palm Avenue Exceptional Student Center. Brenda was not only a beloved teacher but also an advocate for local education, having run as a candidate for Duval County Public School Representative of District 5 and championing local politicians dedicated to community growth.
As a proud mother, Brenda raised three beautiful children: Brandon (Chantel) Washington, Julian Jordan Jr., and Clarissa Jordan, who brought her immeasurable joy. Her love extended to her grandchildren—Samia, Orlando, and Aiden—who adored their grandmother and cherished the moments spent with her. Beyond family, Brenda embraced life with enthusiasm; she enjoyed social gatherings, card games, competitive billiards, and unleashed her creativity as an author of an e-book and as a songwriter of "The Simple Brown Girl."
Brenda is lovingly remembered by her father, Sam (Yvonne) Miller, her sisters Beth (Roy) Casey, Bonita Miller, Corrine Miller, Marie (Sean) Llewellyn, and brother Sam (Kaydene) Miller. She leaves behind her children, Brandon (Chantel), Julian Jr., and Clarissa, along with her cherished grandchildren, Samia, Orlando, and Aiden. Brenda will be deeply missed by her dear cousin and big sister Catherine Gillard-Powell, special cousins Zoe Ellen Jordan and Tyrona Clark-Murray, and close friends Michelle Williams, Pamela Daniels, and Jacinda Pertilla (God Daughter), among numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Brenda's legacy lives on through the lives she touched and the love she shared. She has now been reunited with her beloved parents, Claudette and Sam Elps, and her brothers, Hugo and Elton Miller. May her spirit inspire us all to embrace life fully and spread love wherever we go.
