Bobbie Jean Ford

Ms. Bobbie Jean Ford was born on November 23, 1953, in Hogansville, GA to Columbus and Mattie (Dawson) Ford. Ms. Bobbie (as she was affectionately known) was the youngest of seven children. She graduated from Troup County High School in LaGrange, GA. She later attended and became an elated graduate of Bethune Cookman University in Daytona Beach, FL. Ms. Bobbie was a retired Civil Service Employee who worked for a variety of government agencies during her career: The U.S. Army Corp of Engineers (Jax, FL), Fort McCoy Army Reserve Installation (Tomah, WI), and Ramstein Air Base (Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany). She was employed part-time by the City of Jacksonville as a receptionist for the Planning and Development Department.

Ms. Bobbie was a PROUD and DEVOTED member of New Redeem Missionary Baptist Church for many years where she served faithfully in many capacities including the Sunday School, Senior Usher Board, Member of District #4, Pastor Secretary, and Volunteer of the Church Food Giveaway. Her ministerial service in ushering extended beyond her church, having been a member of the Usher’s Union of the Emanuel Progressive Baptist Association. She was known for her caring spirit, willingness to serve, and her unwavering devotion to family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers: Elmon Ford of Grantville GA, and Charlie Frank Ford of Dayton OH; sisters: Willie Lou Lenior, Eloise Wilson, and Zelma Pinkney all of Dayton OH.

Ms. Bobbie had many accomplishments throughout life, but her biggest and greatest accomplishments were her three children of whom she leaves to cherish: daughters Breanne Ford and Mernika Duncan, son: Andre Duncan all of Jacksonville, FL, sister: Ida Ray of Ocean Springs, MS and a host of loving relatives and friends.
