Rev. William 'Bobby' Sapp, a lifelong Christian, was born in Jacksonville, Florida on September 9, 1949, to the late Rev. R. Z. Sapp and the late Marie G. Sapp. He attended Eugene Butler and graduated in 1968, and was considered one of the best defensive football players of all time. He also played Semi-pro ball with the opportunity to play pro. Self taught, he became a professional 'Big Rig' truck driver, making it a lifelong carrier. During his lifetime, he worked for several companies: Smalley Transportation, Laney & Duke, Seacoast & CSX. Besides his family, he loved gospel singing. He started at his home church, McCoy Missionary Baptist Choir #1 & The McCoy Male Chorus. His only recording was done on label with Tony & the Magnificent Voices 'Time To Go To The Altar'. His singing career continued as lead singer with The Singing Trumpets. Under the leadership of his father, Rev. R. Z. Sapp, in 1969, he became a 33 degree Mason. 1970 he was ordained as a deacon, September 2, 1972, he married his wife Geneva Stamper. June 26, 1973 his first and only child was born, Teya Marie. In the year of 2000, he received his ordination as a licensed minister. He was preceded in death by his parents, The Late Rev. R. Z. Sapp and The Late Marie G. Sapp; two sisters, Margie V. Sapp Brown and Hattie Sapp; three brothers, Zolley Sapp, Ronnie Sapp and Clarence Long. He leaves to cherish his memories, wife, Geneva Sapp; devoted daughter, 'Always Daddy's Lil Girl' Teya 'Tee-Top' Sapp; 'Grandaddy's Son' Dontonieo Sapp; daughter & son by marriage, Ronald Murphy & Vicky Murphy; 12 grandchildren, Myrykle Elliott, Ronald Murphy, III, Renard Murphy, Shareka Boone, E'Ronde Murphy, E'Rinze Murphy, Khyler Murphy, Kasden Murphy, Sherrelle & Latrelle Jackson and John Arthur Jackson, III; four brothers, Rev. Theodore Sapp (Annette), Charles Sapp (Vera), James Sapp (Ethel) and Michael Sapp; three sisters, Patricia Owens (Willie), Charlotte Lester (Jerry) and Gloria Wilson (Steve, Sr.) and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many sorrowing friends.
