Mr. Rodney Paul Williams was born on July 31, 1957 in Jacksonville, Florida to the late Isaiah Williams Sr. and Doristein Rhodes Williams Smith and reared by step-father Robert W. (Bob) Smith. He attended Ribault High School and Florida State College at Jacksonville (formerly FCCJ). He served 6 years in the United States army before being honorably discharged. He was raised in
Jacksonville, but also lived in Boston, Atlanta, Daytona Beach, Fayetteville (NC) and Orlando. Rodney worked in several industries, but his passion was the arts. Rodney was a prolific poet and speaker and was known as Midnight Lover on the radio. He also served as the Founder and CEO of Making it Happen Entertainment where he produced artists in all fields of entertainment. Rodney was a member of St. Paul AME Church and was well known his community for his artistry and political advocacy. Rodney never met a stranger. Within 5 minutes, he had a new friend.
Rodney is survived by his mother, Doristein Smith; father and stepmother, Robert (Bob) and Jackie Smith (Daytona Beach); sisters, Tirea Smith (Georgia), Belinda Williams(Georgia) and Helen Rogers (North Carolina); brothers, Isaiah Williams, Ira Marche (New York) and Robert Blossom; uncles and aunts, Roosevelt and Barbara Jenkins (Virginia), Rose Koon (Orlando), Bob and Cynthia Jenkins Orlando/Tallahassee), Audrey Wyatt (Orlando), LaFrance Armstrong (Orlando), Ruth Smith (Georgia), Pearl Davis, Mildred Murrel, Claude Edwards (California) and William Wright (Nebraska); niece, Nicole Edwards and a host of other relatives and friends.
