Margaret Sims Obituary

73-year-old world traveler, Ms. Margaret Bradley Sims was a passenger on the October 9, 2019, 7:00 P.M. Trinity Airlines’ flight headed home to live with her Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ.  Margaret Joyce Bradley Sims was born to the late Evelyn Bernice Bradley Gomez and Charlie Campos Gomez in Jacksonville, FL on October 3, 1946.

 

In her earlier years, Margaret accepted Christ and became a member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Daytona, FL.  She was educated in the Florida schools system and was a 1963 graduate of New Stanton Senior High School, Jacksonville, FL.  She then went on to excel in her 20-year career at Bellsouth (AT& T), Daytona and Jacksonville, FL locations working her way from telephone operator to upper management and later retire with honors. But retirement quickly bored her, she started a new management career at Citigroup Corporation, Jacksonville, FL for another 10 years.  All throughout her working and retirement years she was a devoted and committed volunteer usher at the Florida Theatre in Jacksonville, FL over 30 years.  Margaret was a breast cancer survivor who assisted in the mission of the Jacksonville, FL’s chapter of the National African American Breast Cancer Survivorship organization, Sisters Network, Inc. Other volunteer positions, United Way Loan Executive, Telephone Pioneers of America and BellSouth Speakers Bureau to name a few.

 

Margaret is survived by her long-life companion Norman Sims of Florida. But if you knew Margaret, her greatest accomplishment in life was being the mother to her two loving and devoted sons, Antonio (Sondra) Stalling, North Carolina and Tracy (Eartha) Stalling, Texas. She was the proud loving grandmother to 8 grandchildren, Andre (Ronke) Stalling, Latoya Nichols, Ebony Nichols, Marcell Stalling all of Florida, Timmon Gaymon and Shenitra Jones, both of North Carolina, Marquell (Jaleesa) Stalling, Virginia, Kendra Eady and Keshire Eady both of Texas. 5 loving great grandchildren. Cherished Siblings, Jesus (Shelia) Gomez, the late Carlos Gomez, Oscar Gomez all of Florida, Devoted Uncle, James (Fredericka) Bradley, Florida; Proud Aunt to Shawn Gomez, Jade Gomez, Stephanie (Christopher), Rachel Gomez, Dallas, Gomez all of Florida, Loyal Cousins, Keith Graham, Virginia, Runea Graham, Florida, Kim Barrera, Texas,  Elizabeth Ann Barrera and Bridget Barrera both of Maryland, Michael Telfair, Bobby Barrera and Klanese Smith, all of Florida and a host of other loved family and close friends, especially Alice Barr of Florida, a close friend of 59 years.
